Burgess Park, Alpine Utah
I just discovered this weekend that I AM releated to the Burgess family that settled Alpine. While it is not s direct relation, the Burgess that settled Alpine descended from the Same family tree as I. They decended from William Burgess, Sr., son of John Christian Burgess(Borges) the Hessian Soldier.
I found out right before the weekend that there was a Burgess reunion held at Burgess Park in Alpine. I was able to attend. I was excited to attend to possibly share a few stories and get in contact with a few people to see how much information we could exchange. I very quickly discovered someone in the family had put together a nearly 800 page book about the family. I bought two while at the reunion. Someone even put together a coloring book about our ancestors. Wow! I never imagined I would collect so much information.
A bit of interesting information was that I am a direct decendant of a woman accused of being a witched and hanged in the Salem witch trials. I found out that a man in my line, who was an inventor of guns, sold his gun business to Winchester. What an informative weekend I had!
