Labor Day – A Tribute

Being labor day, I thought I would take a few moments to write down some thoughts. Labor day, as you may or may not know, was created by a guy named McGuire back in the 1800′s. The only thing in dispute is which McGuire; Matthew or Peter. Regardless, the holiday was created to pay tribute to the American Worker. It was created to take time off from the labors of the day. Whether you are a construction worker, a taxi cab driver, an online marketer, a software engineer, a truck driver, an executive, a musician, or anything else, it’s time to enjoy a day off. Read more

Reality Behind Magic List Bot Online Marketing

While looking into some online marketing and other affiliate relating programs on the internet, I stumbled across the Magic List Bot. The premise behind this software is that you can, “Legally and ethically steal clients from other websites.”  What? I am not certain what the world is coming to, but when you admit you are stealing, what is legal and ethical about it? Paul Ponna’s marketing technique is definitely unique. He claims to be driving a ton of traffic and making lots of sales. So what is it? Read more

Discovering Online Marketing Made Easy

Trickle Down Economics Working In Georgia

Do you have any questions about trickle down economics? Do you even understand what they are. In a nutshell, trickle down economics is the act of Government providing tax cuts or other benefits to bug businesses or other wealthy individuals in a belief that this will directly affect the rest of us. Does it really work? Just ask the people of Westpoint Georgia.

After receiving tax breaks of $400,000,000 dollars, Kia, the Korean Car Company, will be opening a sprawling manufacturing plant in West Point, Georgia. The company will hire 2500 new workers. Their population is 3500. The community stands to gain 20,000 new jobs over the next five years. You can read more about it here and here.

This just goes to show you, two things. Trickle down economic works. Less Government is better!

New Google OS

Google announced yesterday, they are gearing up to release a new OS (operating system). According to the announcement, this OS will be a lightweight open-source OS that “just works.” People want their computers to run fast. They want to check email and get on the web without having to wait for their computers to boot. This should be that solution.

The initial release is geared toward the new “netbooks” but eventually will support other computer systems as well. My question is, will I be able to run this in Parallels on my MacBook? Maybe the bigger question, Will I need to? What do you think?

Typical Client Relations For Developers

In the world of web development, there are plenty of organizations and individuals alike who just don’t understand. They always want something for nothing. This video highlights the struggle we developers go through frequently when trying to negotiate work. For anyone who has ever been in this situation, I know you will get a kick out of this.

Amazon’s Digital “Tea Party”

Amazon takes on the government in North Carolina. They tell the government, “We’re not going to pay your illegal tax scheme.” Well, not in so many words. However, it turns out that Amazon cancels their affiliate program in North Carolina, completely undermining government efforts to collect tax revenue from Amazon. I wonder what the goverment will be planning next?

Here is the email Amazon sent out:

We are writing from the Amazon Associates Program to notify you that your Associates account has been closed as of June 26, 2009. This is a direct result of the unconstitutional tax collection scheme expected to be passed any day now by the North Carolina state legislature (the General Assembly) and signed by the governor. As a result, we will no longer pay any referral fees for customers referred to Amazon.com or Endless.com after June 26. We were forced to take this unfortunate action in anticipation of actual enactment because of uncertainties surrounding the legislation’s effective date.

Please be assured that all qualifying referral fees earned prior to June 26, 2009 will be processed and paid in full in accordance with our regular referral fee schedule. Based on your account closure date of June 26, 2009, any final payments will be paid by September 1, 2009.

In the event that North Carolina repeals this tax collection scheme, we would certainly be happy to re-open our Associates program to North Carolina residents.

The North Carolina General Assembly’s website is http://www.ncleg.net/, and additional information may be obtained from the Performance Marketing Alliance at http://www.performancemarketingalliance.com/.

We have enjoyed working with you and other North Carolina-based participants in the Amazon Associates Program, and wish you all the best in your future.

Best Regards,

The Amazon Associates Team

Screen Shot on iPhone

photoWhat’s a screen shot? A screen shot is a picture of what you are looking at on the screen; whatever screen you are looking at at the time. In this case we are talking about the iPhone.

Has there ever been a time when you have been using your iPhone and want to take a screen shot of something? Have you ever wondered how people get a really good screen shot of the iPhone application you see in the app store or on the Internet? Well look no further and wonder no more! You TOO can take a screen shot of what ever is in the viewable area of your iPhone. It is simple. Just follow these instruction:

  1. Adjust the image on the screen of the iPhone.
  2. Simultaneously push the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons.

That’s it! You will hear the iPhone make a sound like it is taking a picture and the screen shot will be stored in your photos app. Simple as one, two. No three required!

I have attached a sample screen shot of my iPhone that I was able to email to myself.

Mac4Lin UI

Have you ever wished you could run the Mac UI on Linux? Wish no further. Mac4Lin has hit v.1.0 and will install the Mac look on Linux with one installation script. It currently supports Gnome (sorry KDE users). It integrates well with some apps too like Firefox. Looking at the desktop you will think you are running a Mac with only one exception; the Apple logo is not bundled with the package.
